Marshall electronic FR Microphone User Manual

ank you for purchasing an MXL FR series boundary microphone.
With proper care, these microphones will provide many years of
satisfaction. For best results, please take a few moments to review this
literature.
General Characteristics
MXL FR series boundary microphones feature multiple capsules, (three
in the FR 400 and 401M, two in the FR 402) to ensure a wide yet
controlled pick up pattern. ey have been designed with high quality
FET pre-amps, to ensure outstanding audio quality under even the most
demanding conditions. e FR series boundary microphones require
48v phantom power to operate. Phantom power is available from most
professional video cameras and mixers.
e MXL FR-400 has a switch located on the bottom of the
microphone, which can boost or cut low frequencies by 6dB to balance
the frequency response for dierent applications. Experimentation with
both positioning and selection of the most suitable microphone for any
given application is recommended, as both can have a pronounced eect
upon the quality of recordings.
If for any reason you get no sound from your FR series boundary
microphone, please check that phantom power is being correctly supplied.
Care
Dust and foreign material can degrade the performance of a microphone
over time so always store the unit in a warm dry place. Remove
ngerprints from the exterior with a clean, dry soft cloth.
