Can anybody tell me how to remove the hammers from a Roland RD-500? I have the action out, can see the broken weights -- which I'm told can be easily glued -- but can't figure out how to remove the hammer without breaking it? Also, searching for service manual. Any advice appreciated!

5 I figured out how to remove the hammers (after much fretting and prayer) on my Roland RD300. I don't know if your's is the same design but the trick is to push down the key then gently push the key forward (away from you) . Once you have one out you'll see how it works. To replace it is just the reverse.

4 In case you never found the answer: I had the same problem. In fact, I discovered that EVERYBODY breaks these hammers; it's a design flaw). So I searched the web for hours for the answer, gave up , and finally paid $85 to a shop. But they showed me how. It's easy. But then I found this excellent online instruction. http://www.mikelattrell.com/RD600.html Wish I'd found this earlier; would have saved me $. FYI I see different opinions about gluing the hammers back on, vs. replacing (at $9 a pop, just for the part). Browse this blog:http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Keyboard+And+MIDI/product/Roland/RD-500/10/1 Most people say it DOES work to glue the hammers; many use Super Glue, but others use something less brittle (e.g. glue gun, 3M CA4 plus tape, etc.). Personally, I'd advise replacing broken hammers on the most commonly played keys, and gluing the rest. In an emergency, you can always swap out a rarely (read: never) played key for a broken one. PS. Because its a design flaw, if you still have the original receipt (I didn't) Roland will send you an entire set of new (redesigned) hammers FREE. I called them to verify; it's true.

0 My Rhythm and accompany will not play. The manual drums work but no rythms will play. What do I need to do? Is there a repair shop for Roland that can fix pianos reasonably? Please help. Thank you Kay Powell

0 I e-mailed roland about getting an entire set of redsigned hammers for my RD-600. I have the original receipt. I'm hoping that it's true that they will send a full set of free new hammers as long as you have your receipt. They should because the original hammers have a major design flaw. They should set things right for their customers if they expect us to stand by them.

0 Open top. At rear of each key there are 2 "fins" that slip over 2 horizontal pins. Spread the two fins apart and the key will release from the pins. Lift up & you have access to the hammers. Hammers lift out but you have to snake them out. White key hammers are different than the black key hammers. To put the keys back in, just put in place & push down at the rear of the key. It will snap back into place. I'm currently experimenting with 2 part Locktite super glue for plastics.
