Setting up the PS60 Editor
Beforeyouverifythatthesoftwareisoperatingcorrectly,
makesurethatyou’vecompletedthefollowingsteps.
•ThePS60’sUSBconnectorisconnectedtoyour
computer’sUSBport.
•ThePS60andyourcomputerarebothpoweredon.
•TheKorgUSBMIDIdriverisinstalledfortheUSB
portyou’llbeusing.
•ThePS60
Editor(standaloneversion)isinstalledon
yourcomputer.
1. StartupthePS60Editor.
Windows
Inthetaskbar,clickthe[Start]buttonandthen[All
Programs].Fromthemenu,choose“KORG”–“PS60”–
“PS60Editor”tostartuptheeditor.
Alternatively,youcannavigatetothe“KORG”folder–
“PS60”folder,anddoubleclickthe“PS60
Editor.exe”
iconlocatedthere.
The“KORG”folderwillbeinthelocationthatyou
selectedwheninstallingthesoftware.Bydefault,it
willbeinthe“ProgramFiles”folder.
Macintosh
Navigatetothe“Applications”folder–“KORG”folder–
“PS60”folder,anddoubleclickthe“PS60Editor”icon.
•Whenyoustartup,datawillbetransmitted
and
receivedbetweenthePS60andthePS60Editor.The
PS60’sdisplaywillindicate“Nowtransmitting”and
thePS60Editorwillindicate“Synchronizing...”while
thesynchronizationdataisexchanged.
2. Tosimplifythetestingprocess,selectperformanceA
1,whichusesSinglesettings.
TopressthePERFORMANCEBANKbuttonontheleft
sideofthePS60’spaneltoselectbankA,andthenpress
button1totheright.
3. WhenyoupressoneofthePS60’stimbreselectorON
buttons,thecorrespondingbuttonintheupper
middleareaofthePS60Editorwindowandthe
timbrefieldontheleftsidewillswitch
accordingly.
InthesamewayasifyouclicktheeditorsON
buttonsorthefieldstotheleft,thesettingsonthe
PS60itselfwillswitchaccordingly.
Global mode settings on the
PS60
IfthePS60doesnotfunctioncorrectlywithyour
computer,checkthefollowingsettingsonthePS60itself.
“Local Ctrl” settings
TheMIDIsoftwareonyourcomputermighthaveanEcho
BackfunctionwheremessagesthatarereceivedatMIDI
IN/USBareretransmittedwithoutchangefromMIDI
OUT/USB.
IfyourMIDIsoftware’sEchoBackisturnedonwhenthe
PS60isbidirectionallyconnectedwithyourcomputer,
thePS60’sinternalsoundgenerator
willreceiveduplicate
messages(theinternallygeneratedmessagesaswellas
themessagesreceivedviaechoback),whichwillcause
problemssuchaseachnotebeingsoundedtwice.
Insuchcases,youcansolvetheproblembyturningthe
PS60’slocalcontrolsettingOffsothatthesignalrouteis
internally
disconnectedinsidethePS60.
Withthefactorysettings,thePS60’slocalcontrolsetting
(“LocalCtrl”)isturnedOn.(“PS60Owner’sManual”on
page42)
Note:WhenusingthePS60byitself,leavethelocalcontrol
setting(“LocalCtrl”)turnedOn.IfthisisOff,nosound
willbeproducedwhenyouplay
thePS60’skeyboard.
Note:ThePS60Editor/PlugInEditorwillautomatically
setthePS60’slocalcontrolsettingtotheappropriatestate
whenthesoftwarestartsup.
MIDI Filter “SysEx” setting
Withthefactorysettings,thePS60issetsothatitwillnot
transmitorreceivesystemexclusivemessages(“SysEx”
Off).(“PS60Owner’sManual”onpagep.43)
SincethePS60Editor/PlugInEditorusenumerousMIDI
systemexclusivemessagesforcommunicatingwiththe
PS60,thissettingofthePS60willautomatically
beturned
Onwhenthesoftwarestartsup.
IfyouareusingaMIDIdeviceoranapplicationother
thanthePS60Editor/PlugInEditoranddonotwant
systemexclusivemessagestobetransmittedandreceived
betweenitandthePS60,you’llneedtousethePS60to
manuallyturn
thissettingOn.
Ifyouperformanyofthefollowingoperationsonthe
PS60afterthePS60Editor/PlugInEditorhasfinished
startingup,subsequentcommunicationwillnotbe
possible.
•TurnMIDIFilter“SysEx”Off
•OnthePS60,usethe“LoadPreload”commandwith
“All”or“Global,”andloadthefactoryset

communicatewiththePS60,pleaseusethePS60itselfto
