KK 104/105 S
1. Brief description
The KK 104 S and KK 105 S capsule heads are combined with the Sennheiser
SKM 5200/SKM 5000 (N) handheld transmitter to create wireless microphones. These
capsule heads are derived from the Neumann wired vocalist microphones, and fea-
ture the same basic design and the same essential acoustic properties.
The KK 104 S capsule head has a cardioid directional characteristic, while the
KK 105 S has a supercardioid directional characteristic.
The key features are:
very clean, open sound reproduction, free of coloration
very low sensitivity to handling noise
integrated, highly effective protection against pop noise
low self-noise
Since vocalist microphones are typically addressed at close range, the bass frequency
response is equalized so as to compensate for the proximity effect (see frequency re-
sponse).
2. Cleaning
The interior assembly can be removed completely to clean the headgrille. First loosen
the 3 axial hexagonal socket screws using the Allen wrench provided.

rotations. (If the
screws are unscrewed further, this could result in loss of the screws.) Then release the
interior assembly by rotating it 30° counterclockwise, and remove it axially.
Reverse these steps to reinstall the cleaned headgrille: Insert the interior assembly
axially, then rotate it approximately 30° clockwise until it reaches the stop position.
Then tighten the 3 hexago-
nal socket screws using the
Allen wrench provided.
Soap solution (standard
dishwashing detergent) can
be used to clean the head-
grille. After washing the
headgrille, rinse it in clean water and then dry it.
In the case of the KK 104 S, the foam insert of the headgrille can be removed sepa-
rately for cleaning.
