Realtime-recording the Rhythm Using MIDI
Next you’ll select the MIDI track on which to record, and specify the recording-start measure.
You can record on any track 1–128 that is indicated as “MIDI.” There’s no particular need to record on
track 10 just because you’re playing part 10 of the sound generator part.
In this example, let’s record on track 1.
1. Press [SONG].
The Song Play screen appears.
2. Use the VALUE dial or use / to select the MIDI track on which you’ll record.
Select the track that’s indicated “MIDI 1”.
If you press [ENTER] at the Track Name field, you’ll be able to enter a track name.

3. Use [ ] or [ ] to specify the measure at which you’ll start recording. For this
example, specify the beginning of the song.
If a phrase already exists at the recording-start location
The existing phrase will be overwritten by your new recording.
If a phrase exists following the recording-start location
A new phrase will be recorded. You’ll be able to record up to the location of the subsequent phrase.
