Set the MIDI Channel
MIDI features sixteen MIDI channels, numbered 1–16.
The connected devices must be set to use the same MIDI
channels, otherwise no sound will be produced.
- In a setup where you wish to play the pt-2700 and also
have another MIDI-equipped instrument or sound
module play the same notes, you should first set the
channel used for reception on your external device to the
same channel that you have the pt-2700 set to use for
transmission.
- If using another MIDI keyboard as a master instrument,
and you wish to have the pt-2700 played by it, you would
need to set the channel used for reception on the pt-2700
to the same channel that the master keyboard will be
transmitting on.
- When wishing to have a sequencer play the pt-2700, you
need to set the channel used or reception on the pt-2700 to
the same channel that the recorded MIDI data is set to use.
When the pt-2700 is turned on, Channel “1” is selected.
While holding down the [GRAND PIANO],
[UPRIGHT PIANO], and [STRINGS] buttons,
press the appropriate key (C2–D4) on the
keyboard.
The MIDI transmit channel and receive channel will
switch to the number that corresponds to the note you
pressed.
