MIC-5 User’s Manual
The MIC-5 Bass Management Kit is designed to integrate with the Velodyne Digital Drive
®
and
SPL™ -R EQ software for users looking to optimize their bass response for more than one spot
in a room. In the past, with a single microphone, the user needed to either optimize the bass
for a single position, or move the mic manually among various spots and optimize the EQ curve
accordingly. With the MIC-5, from one to five microphones can be used in different listening
positions with the EQ software seeing an average of all the locations together as a single
response curve.
The MIC-5 works with all Digital Drive (DD) subwoofers including the DD-10, DD-12, DD-15,
DD-18 and the DD-1812. It also can be used with all SPL-R subwoofers including the
SPL-800R, the SPL-1000R, the SPL-1200R and the SPL-1500R. It also works with the Digital
Drive SMS™-1.
The MIC-5 comes complete with:
• MIC-5 hub
• Five high precision microphones with stands and windscreens
• Five 6-foot XLR mic cables
• One 20-foot XLR mic cable for use with Digital Drive systems including the SMS-1
• One 20-foot microphone cable (mini-jack) for use with SPL-R subwoofers
• Carrying case
To use the MIC-5, simply install the mics in their stands, place them in the desired listening
positions, and connect them to the MIC-5 hub using the included 6-foot XLR microphone cables.
Select the number of microphones to be used by pressing the button on the MIC-5 hub until
the appropriate number of microphones is indicated. Use the appropriate long microphone
cable to connect to the Digital Drive subwoofer, SPL-R subwoofer
, or SMS-1. Then use the
Digital Drive or SPL-R equalization softwar
e nor
mally as indicated in the user’s manual.
The MIC-5 uses two 9-volt batteries (included). The low-battery light indicates the need for
new batteries.
