■ Cleaning the scanner components

• If the scanner components are dirty, the documents you send or copy will also be dirty.
• Use a soft, lint-free cloth.

Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, or similar materials for cleaning.
4 When you are finished, close the printer cover.
Be sure to close the printer cover until it locks into place.
5 Reconnect the power cord.
1 Disconnect the power cord from the fax.
2 Open the printer cover.
3 While holding the scanning unit, flip down the scanning unit cover, marked with a white
strip inside, clean the components:
Wipe with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth moistened with water, then wipe with a clean, soft, dry, lint-
free cloth.

4 When you are finished, close the printer cover.
Be sure to close the printer cover until it locks into place.
5 Reconnect the power cord.
