ON/STOP SWITCH
The ON/STOP switch is located on the trigger
handle and is used to stop the e ngine. To stop
the engi ne, p ush and release the engine ON/
STOP switch.
PRIMER BULB
The PRIMERBULB r em oves airfr omthecar-
buretor and fuel lines and fills them with fuel.
This allows you to start t he engine with fewer
pulls on the starter rope. Activate the primer
bulb by pressing it and allowing it to return to
its original form.
START LEVER
The START LEVER h elps t o supp ly fue l to the
engine to aid in starting. Act iva te the starting
system by movi ng the start lever to t he STAR T
positi on. D O N OT squeeze t he thr ottle tr igger
until the engine has star ted and runs. After the
engine starts, allo w t he en gine to wa rm--up 5
seconds, the n fully squeeze the throttle trigger
to deacti vate the sta rting system.
COUPLER
The COUPLER enables optional attach-
ments to be installed on the unit.
CHAIN TENSION
It is normal for a new chain to stretch during
first 15 minutes of operation. You should
check your chain tension frequently . See
CHAIN TENSION in the SERVICE AND AD-
JUSTMENTS section.
BEFORE STARTING EN GINE
WARNING: Besure to r ead the fuel
information in the safety rules before you be-
gin. If you d o not understand the safet y rules,
do not attempt to fuel your unit. Call
1-800-554-6723.
FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove fuel ca p slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
Toobtain thecorrect oilmix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
IMPORTAN T:This equipment is designed to
operate on unleaded gasoline wit h a minimum
87 octane (R+M/2 method), wit h ethanol
blended up to 10%maxi mum by volume (E-10).
Beforeoperat ion, gasolin emust b e m ixed with a
good quality syn thetic 2-cycle air-coo led engine
oil designed to be mixed at a ratio of 40:1.
Poulan/WEED EA TER brand sy nthetic o il is
reco mmended. Mix g asol ine and oil at a ra tio of
40:1. A 4 0:1 rati o is obtain ed by mixi ng 3.2 fluid
ounces of oil with 1 gallon of unleaded gasoline.
DO NOT USE au tomotive oil or m arine oil.
These o ils will cause engine damage. When
mixing fuel, foll ow instructions pri nted on
contai ner . Once oil is added to gasoline, shake
contai ner momentarily to a ssure that the fuel is
thoroughly mixed. Always r ead and f ollow t he
safe ty r ules re lating to f uel before fueli ng yo ur
unit. Purchasefuel inquantiti es thatcan beused
within 30 days to assure fuel freshness.
