SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TRANSMISSION REMOVAUREPLACEMENT TO ADJUST STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT
If steering wheel crossbars are not horizontal (left to right)
when wheels are positioned straight forward, remove steer-
ing wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly
section of this manual.
Should your transmission require removal for service or
replacement, it should be purged after reinstallation and
before operating the tractor. See "PURGE TRANSMIS-
SION" in the Operation section of this manual.
TRANSAXLE MOTION CONTROL LEVER
NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT (See Fig. 26)
The motion controllever hasbeen preset at thefactory and
adjustment should not be necessary.
Loosen adjustment bolt infront of the rightrear wheel,
and lightlytighten.
Start engine and move motioncontrollever untiltractor
does not move forward or backward.
Hold motion controllever inthatpositionandturnengine
off.
While holdingmotion controllever inplace, loosen the
adjustment bolt.
Move motioncontrollever tothe neutral (N) (lock gate)
position.
Tighten adjustment bolt securely.
NOTE: Ifadditionalclearance isneededtoget toadjustment
bolt, move mower deck height to the lowestposition.
After above adjustment is made, ifthe tractor stillcreeps
forward or backward while motioncontrollever isinneutral
position, follow these steps:
Loosen the adjustment bolt.
Move the motion control lever 1/4 to 1/2 inch in the
direction it istryingto creep.
Tighten adjustment boltsecurely.
Start engine and test.
Iftractor stillcreeps, repeat above steps untilsatisfie(

FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER
The front wheel toe-in and camberare not adjustable onyour
tractor. If damage has occurred toaffect the front wheel toe-
in or camber, contact your nearest authorized service
center/department
TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS
(See Fig. 27)
Block up axle securely.
Remove axle cover, retaining ring and washers toallow
wheel removal (rear wheel contains asquare key -Do not
lose).
Repair tire and reassemble.
On rearwheelsonly: align grooves in rearwheel hub and
axle. Insert square key.
Replace washers and snap retaining ring securely in
axle groove.
Replace axle cover.
NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent flat tires due to
slow leaks, tire sealant may be purchased from your local
parts dealer. Tire sealant also prevents tire dry rot and
corrosion.
