segmentasMyIP.ThismeansthattheNetmask,whosebitsdefinetheLANsegment,iscompared
withMyIP,andthebitsthatmustbecommonbetweenMyIPandtheRouterIPareforcedtothe
correctstate.ThecheckoftheRouter'saddressisdonewheneverMyIP,theRouterIP,orthe
ted.TheNetmaskisaspecialsetofnumbersthataresimilartoanIPaddress,but
mustbeastringof1's,fromthehighestorderbitdown,definingthebitsthatmustmatchbetween
MyIPandanydeviceittriestoaccessontheLANsegment.IftheIPaddressbitsmatch,thedevice
isontheLANsegment,andcanbeaddresseddirectly.Iftheydonotmatch,thetestermustredirect
it'sIPpackettotheRouterforforwarding.EditingtheNetmaskislimitedtosettingvalidbit
combinationsthatallowforLANsegmentswith5to253possibledevices.
Thissub-menuallowstheusertoviewtheresultsofthemostrecentDHCP
negotiationbetweentheLanScaper™andaDHCPserver.Thevaluesdisplayedcannotbe
modified,onlyviewedtodeterminetheconfigurationoftheLANsegmentundertest.Pressingthe
SELbuttondropsthetesterintotheDHCPdisplayscreens.Theup/downarroworSELbuttons
scrollthroughthescreensinthissub-menu.Theinformationobtainedforeachiteminthesub-
menucanbeviewedbypressingtheSELbutton.Any000.000.000.000entriesmeanthatthelast
DHCPserverdidnotprovidetherequestedinformation.Ifallentriesare000.000.000.000,the
tDHCPOnmodewasselected,buttheLANdidnotprovideaDHCP
server.Thissub-menuisexitedbyscrollingtothe“SeltogotoMainMenu”screenandpressing
SEL,orbypressingCABLEorNTWRKtoexittoatestmode.
