2.3. Rear Panel
o MIC INPUT (balanced XLR/TRS connector)
Connect the microphone to this connector.
XS-8 provides COMBO type connector which combines
XLR type and TRS type connector.
Connections are as follows:
XLR TRS
HOT: Pin 2 Tip
COLD: Pin 3 Ring
GND: Pin 1 Sleeve
If you connect the unbalanced microphone to this
connector, we recommend that cold (Pin 3 or Ring)
short-circuited to GND (Pin 1 or Sleeve).
p ADJ
Adjusts the microphone input signal gain.
MIC input sensitivity adjustment must be done by
very carefully using the headphones as a reference
and avoiding that input could be clipped (overload).
a INSERT (unbalanced TRS jack)
Inserts the external effect in microphone signal path.
Connect the external effector to this jack.
Connections are as follows:
SEND: Tip
RETURN: Ring
GND: Sleeve
s REC OUTPUT (unbalanced RCA jacks)

For example, to connect the recorder to these jacks, you
can record your live performance before MASTER
LEVEL control.
d EFEFECT SEND (unbalanced RCA jacks)
Outputs the PGM signal (post PGM fader) when
EFFECT switch is turned on.
Connect the external effector (input jacks of external
effector) to these jacks to use the external effector.
f PHONO INPUTS (unbalanced RCA jacks)
Connect the turntables equipped with the MM cartrige.
g GND terminal
If the turntables are fitted with grounding wires, connect
these to this GND terminal to reduce noise and hum.

or another XS-8.
When you use another XS-8, connect the MASTER

The input signal from these jacks can be adjusted by
EFF/SESSION control. For example, this function is
especially useful for “SESSION MIXING”.
; EXT INPUT
Connect external line level equipment.
The input signals from these jacks are mixed to master
bus (pre MASTER 1/2 control).
z POWER switch

c FOOT SWITCH 1/2
Connect the (optional) foot switch such as TASCAM RC-
30P to these connectors.
By using the foot switch, you can control the external
EFFECT ON/OFF of each PGM.
When effect path is activated, the effect LED is lit up.
