Recording Sound from a Mic or Guitar
1. Press the [REC] button to enter record-standby mode.
The [REC] indicator will blink, and the Audio Rec Standby window appears.
You can apply effects such as equalizer or compressor to the audio input. To make settings,
press [F7 (Inp Setting)] and then [F7 (Input Effect)] to access the INPUT EFFECT screen. For
details on the parameters that you can set, refer to
“Input Effect Parameters”
(p. 186) in
the Owner’s Manual.
2. Use the cursor buttons to move the cursor to each parameter, and turn the VALUE dial or
use [INC] [DEC] to set its value.
For this example we’ll make settings for using the mic to record in monaural for a length of four measures.
For details on each parameter, refer to
“Audio Rec Standby Parameters”
(p. 230) in
the Owner’s Manual.
3. If you’re using the mic/guitar/line input, use the rear panel LEVEL knob to adjust the
input level from the external source.
If you’re using DIGITAL IN, this adjustment is not necessary.
If the volume of the external input is too high, the front panel PEAK indicator will light.
In this case, turn down the LEVEL knob until the PEAK indicator no longer lights.
If the recording level is too high, the level meter in the screen will indicate “CLIP.”
4. Press [PLAY] or [F8 (Start)].
After a one-measure count, recording will begin.
5. Perform on your mic or guitar.
6. When you’re finished recording, press [STOP].
The [REC] indicator will go dark, and the recorded sample will be assigned to the track.
