Playing “Moldau”
Press the [1] button in the Registration Memory section to call up Registration M1.
Check that the Knee Lever is folded down.
The notation indicates the various points in the song where you’ll need to make changes to the instrument —
shifting the Registration Memory, turning the Rotary Speaker on with your right hand, turning the Rotary
Speaker off with the left footswitch, turning Melody On Chord on with the Knee Lever, and so on. Be careful to
follow these indications as you play the Electone.
The tempo written in the notation is only a rough indication of how the song should be performed. A lot
of the performance depends on “feel.” When you start at section B, play in a relaxed way, and put in
a little pause. In the jazzy arrangement (from Bto E), ride the rhythm and play evenly. At the last bar
of F, after turning off the Rotary Speaker, listen closely for the speed change of the Rotary Speaker
effect. When you feel the rotation stop, shift the Registration to M6. At section G, decrease the tempo.
Finish the song with a loud flourish or bring down the volume and end calmly, as you like. Either
approach will work fine.
This arrangement showcases a variety of different organ sounds and features various dynamic stylistic changes.
Play it with enthusiasm, and above all — enjoy it. You’re now an Electone master!
