Creating an Original Audio CD
This chapter explains how you can create an original audio CD by recording two
tracks (stereo tracks) from the VS-2480/2480CD to the CD recorder.
Connecting the CD-R/RW Drive
A CD-R/RW drive allows you to use CD-R or CD-RW discs to create audio CDs.
CD-R discs are the preferred format for audio CDs.
1. Make sure that the power of all devices is turned off.
2. Use a SCSI cable to connect the Roland CD recorder.
3. Turn on the power of the Roland CD recorder.
4. Turn on the power of the VS-2480.
Writing a Project to a CD-R/RW disc
When this procedure is performed, the VS-2480/2480CD will first create a
CD-R/RW image file on its internal hard disk, and will then write that image file to
the CD-R/RW disc. For this reason, there must be sufficient free space on the internal
hard disk to create this image file.
All unused capacity of the hard disk will be allocated to the image file, regardless of
the partition settings. The image file will be deleted automatically after it has been
written to the CD-R/RW disc.

CD-RW (Appendices P. 12)
SCSI (Appendices P. 12)
In order to create an
original audio CD on the
VS-2480, you will need a
separately sold CD-RW
drive (Roland CDR-88
series).
Because image date is not
created in situations
involving specified tracks
of a project when the
recording mode is CDR
mode, or V tracks recorded
on a mastering track in
CDR mode, the time it
takes to write to the CD-R
disc can be reduced.

Audio CD’s created using a
CD-RW disc cannot be
played (heard) on a
conventional CD player.
Please use a CD-R disc for
this example.
