Instruments and Controls Getting to Know Your Vehicle
– 29 –
WARNING! The air pressure
warning light and the audi-
ble alarm indicate a danger-
ous situation: there is not
enough air pressure in the
reservoirs for repeated brak-
ing and, except when the
engine is started, indicates
the brake system has failed.
Without the use of your ser-
vice brakes your spring
brakes could suddenly apply
causing a wheel lock-up,
loss of control, or over-take
by following vehicles. You
could be in an accident and
severely injured.
Bring the vehicle to a safe stop
right away, while you still have
control of the vehicle. Follow the
procedure below:
Air Loss Emergency Procedure
1. Slow down carefully.
2. Move a safe distance off the road
and stop.
3. Place the transmission in park and
set the parking brake. (See pages
58
and 66 for transmission shifting
and parking brake information.)
4. Turn OFF the engine.
5. Turn ON the emergency flasher
and use other warning devices to
alert other motorists.
If the light and alarm do not turn off at
startup, do not try to drive the vehicle
until the problem is found and fixed.
9. Low Air Pressure Warning Light
This warning light will illuminate and a
warning buzzer will sound whenever
there is insufficient air pressure (less
than 80 psi or 5.5 bar) available in any
air reservoir.
Do not attempt to drive the vehicle
while this warning light is illuminated.
10. Battery Charge Warning Light
This warning light will illuminate if the
battery charging voltage falls below 11
volts.
11. Parking Brake Warning Light
This warning light will illuminate when-
ever the parking brake is applied or
when there is insufficient air pressure
available to release the parking brake.
12. Blank
This warning light is not used.
13. Differential Lock Warning Light
(A locking differential is not available
from the factory.) This warning light will
illuminate whenever the differential is
locked.
