Arturia 2.6 Recording Equipment User Manual

ARTURIA – MOOG MODULAR V 2.6 – USER’S MANUAL 135
The “envelope follower” module
Let’s have a closer look at these two situations:
9.4.2.1 Trig by an external audio source.
In the first case, the Moog Modular V will be used as a VST insert effect for an audio track in
Cubase SX.
If you don’t have Cubase, know that the procedure remains globally the same for any other
sequencer.
Firstly, place a sample (preferably a drum loop) on an audio track on the sequencer.
Open a VST “Insert” effect on this track by choosing “Moog Modular V2 FX”.
On a MIDI track, choose the Moog Modular V2 FX as MIDI control output. It will thus be
controlled by your master keyboard or by a sequence recorded in the arrangement. This
point is essential for generating the sound of the Moog Modular V.
It is also possible to create a continuous note (hold) so that the Moog signal doesn’t stop. For this, set the
“Release” knob on the VCA1 envelope fully to the right (in the direction of the hands of a clock).
On the Moog, choose the “EFX/ Ext_In” preset in the “Factory” bank. The “Ext Left” audio
in (on the lower section) is connected to the envelope follower audio in. This indicates that
the audio signal will guide the envelope.
