1–5: Vector Volume Control
Vector Synthesis lets you control Track volumes and
Program & Effects parameters by moving the Vector
Joystick, by using the programmable Vector Envelope,
or by the combination of the two.
For more background information on Vector Synthesis,
please see “What does Vector mean?” on page 38, and
“Vector Joystick and Vector Envelope” on page 38.
Program and Song Vectors work together
In Sequencer mode, each Track’s Program still has its
own Vector EG, which controls volume and CCs as it
did in Program mode. You can disable the Program
Vector Volume and CC control separately for each
Track, if desired.
There is also a separate Song-wide Vector EG, with its
own Vector Volume and CC control settings. As with
the Program Vector, you can disable the Song Volume
and CC control separately for each Track. Note that the
Song Vector CCs affect only Tracks and Effects on the
Global MIDI Channel.
How Sequencer mode Vector Volume works
In Program mode, Vector Volume fades between the
two Oscillators. Oscillator 1 is always at maximum
volume when the Vector position is all the way to the
left (–X), and Oscillator 2 is always at maximum when
the Vector Position is all the way to the right (+X).
In Sequencer mode, on the other hand, the Vector can
fade between any or all of the 16 Tracks. You can assign
each of the Tracks to be controlled by any of the four
Vector axes (+X, –X, +Y, –Y), or to not be controlled at
all.
This lets you set up complex transitions between
different Programs, including between HD-1 and
different EXi instruments.
